Kainat Thebo is a filmmaker, photographer, and academic, born in Mehrabpur- Pakistan. She has a bachelor’s and MS degree in Film & TV. She worked as a video producer at the Lok Virsa- National Institute of Folk & Traditional Heritage (Islamabad), where she produced several cultural documentary films across Pakistan. She also worked as a video producer for PTV World (a Pakistani International channel) and produced the “Folk Beats” TV show episode series. She worked at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (Islamabad) and assisted in the creative conceptualization of the filmmaking and photography component. She worked as the Assistant Professor/ Coordinator of the Film & TV program at the School of Digital and Cinematic Art at the Institute for Art and Culture (Lahore) and also supervised thesis year students.

She has been making both fiction and non-fiction films. She won film grants from Seeds of Peace, the US Consulate, Arts Council England, and Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy (SOC) Films. She has participated in national and international film residency programs, and her work has been screened and awarded in many countries, including the US, Canada, Australia, Dubai, France, Germany, Croatia, Nepal, India, Bangladesh, and Taiwan. Also, she is a practicing fine art photographer who has exhibited her work in different art galleries. She has conducted film & and photography workshops in Pakistan and abroad.
